Rohan Chhetri is a poet and translator who earned a PhD from the University of Houston in 2023. Recently, he was the Deena Jo-Heide Deisslin Postdoctoral Fellow at Texas Christian University, where he taught Asian American and World Literature courses as well as creative writing workshops. Chhetri has an MFA in Creative Writing from Syracuse University and an MA in English from University of Mumbai. His latest book is Lost, Hurt, or in Transit Beautiful, published by HarperCollins in India, Tupelo Press in the US, and Platypus Press in the UK. A recipient of a 2021 PEN/Heim Grant for translation, his translation of the Nepali poet Avinash Shrestha’s selected poems, The Dust Draws its Face on the Wind, was published in 2024 by HarperCollins in India. He has also co-edited the selected volume of the Asian American poet Shreela Ray’s works titled, Shreela Ray: The Life and Work of an American Master. His poems and translations have appeared in The Paris Review, Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day, Poetry London, Words Without Borders, and Modern Poetry in Translation, among others. His academic work focuses on the transnational lineages between Indian and Caribbean Anglophone poetry and on translation theory and practice
