About
Vicki Daniel approaches the teaching of writing through the lens of history. She earned her PhD in the history of science from the University of Wisconsin Madison and her research focuses on the development of disaster victim identification practices in the United States. Her teaching likewise focuses on themes related to death and the body in American history, especially the social and cultural practices that give meaning to both. She enjoys using these topics to introduce first-year writers to academic writing and to the ethical complexities that arise when debating issues related to death.
